THE SAUSAGE: TEEN DRIVING

The House Committee of the Whole gave its support to Senate Bill 1168 on Wednesday. The bill, sponsored by Sen. John McComish, R-Phoenix, would forbid teens with a driver’s permit from using a cellphone while driving, except in an emergency.

Under the bill, police could not pull someone over just for using a phone, but could cite someone who had been stopped for another offense.

The bill awaits final votes in both chambers.
